Dental Crowns and Bridges
Dental Crowns
A dental crown is a cap or a covering that goes directly over a damaged tooth. Crowns can be used to save teeth that would normally have to be extracted. When the outer part of your tooth is significantly damaged, the tooth root can still be preserved using a dental crown. Your tooth roots help support your bones. By keeping your tooth roots preserved, we can keep your jawbone strong and healthy.
Our dental crowns are made out of beautiful porcelain materials that perfectly mimic the color and translucence of your natural teeth. Before a tooth is prepped for a crown, a mold is taken of your natural tooth. Using this mold, we can create a porcelain crown that fits in your mouth perfectly and provides you with flawless occlusion and comfort. Porcelain crowns can be cared for just like your regular teeth with regular flossing and brushing. They look exactly like your natural teeth. Your peers won’t even be able to tell you’re wearing a crown.
Dental Bridges
Crowns can be used to protect damaged teeth. They can also be used to replace missing teeth using a dental bridge. A dental bridge is a group of three or more crowns that can be used to bridge a gap in your mouth.
Crowns are attached to the teeth directly adjacent to the missing tooth or teeth. Dr. McIff can use those crowns to secure another crown directly over the gap by cementing it to the surrounding crowns and creating a bridge.
Dental bridges allow patients who have lost teeth to enjoy eating, smiling, and speaking again. They can bring hope to patients who have suffered from devastating tooth loss, and help them regain the same level of functionality and comfort.
